Jacob's Way
A land of history and legend, the convergence of 3 arteries of Jacob's way, Saint Jean Pied de Port, situated 20 kilometres from d'Ostabat is a stopover for 21st century pilgrims and hikers coming from the four corners of the globe on the trail to Compostela.
Saint Jean Pied de Port is also a departure point for many pilgrims who wish to trek the prestigious length of the pilgrimage through the Portals of Cize towards Roncevaux, and hallowed ground.
This itinerary, rich in monuments, deserves meticulous meandering from Saint Nicolas of Aranbeltz Ostabat until the Roncevaux Collegiate by way of the hamlet of Utxiat near Larceveau, Aphat-Ospitalia in Saint Jean le Vieux and the Portal Saint Jacques in Saint Jean Pied de Port.
